Paul Owens is noted as being the Original Dog Whisperer. A man who has been talking to dogs long before Cesar Millan was making guests out of his celebrity visitors. Owens has been certified by the Certification Council of Pet Dog Trainers and is an official member of the Association of Pet Dog trainers. He is also endorsed by The National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors. Paul has appeared on many television programs such as PBS’s Pets and Pet Files. He has written articles for such magazine as Animal Wellness, Life Magazine and other local newspapers. He has put together many training books and DVDs including the Beginning and Intermediate Dog Training series.

Pet owners need this product if they have pets that are aggressive or need behavior modification. He also has a Puppy Training video just for the newest edition to the family. Starting a puppy off on the right food can save a lot of headache in the years to come. For owners to adopt an older dog they oftentimes need to be retrained due to past problems. According to Paul all dogs behavior problems can be corrected in a humane way.

Paul wrote a best-seller The Dog Whisperer: A Compassionate Nonviolent Approach to Dog Training in 1997, it 2007 it was released again as a second edition. The Puppy Whisperer is a new series that was just released. Another new DVD is Dog Whisperer: Solving Common Behavior Problems.

Paul Owens’s biggest competitor is Cesar Millan who also refers to himself as the Dog Whisperer and has a worldwide empire. Cease has a television show entitled Dog Whisperer on The National Geographic Channel. Cesar also offers books, DVDs and he travels the world doing seminars to help dogs with behavior problems and aggression, not to mention helping the pet owners. His website also offers tips, newsletters, training aids and a help section.

May pet stores offer similar products to help with behavioral issues from smaller independent companies and do not carry the success rates as Cesar Millan or Paul Owens.

What is unique about Paul and his company is that he really is compassionate about animals. He chooses to find ways that will work using non violent methods. He also is the director of a nonprofit charity called Raise With Praise® Inc., which is an educational program and he is the founder and director of Paws for Peace a program that teaches non violence to children after school. Paul does monthly training seminars at home and works closely with the Humane Society as well as local shelters.
