Aggressive Dog Training

Training Your Dog to Stop Aggressive Behavior

Canine aggression is a natural behavior characterized by growling, snarling, raising hackles, jumping, teeth-baring, or biting. Dogs may behave aggressively for many reasons. If they feel that their territory or "pack" is being threatened, they instinctively react to guard and protect. Dogs may become aggressive if they are frightened; aggression is also used to establish dominance within a pack, whether it consists of other dogs or people.

An aggressive dog is dangerous for your family and anyone who approaches your pet. There are services available to help train your dog and discourage this behavior before it becomes uncontrollable.

Obedience Training

> Some dogs are more likely to behave aggressively than others. Early socialization can prevent a great deal of unacceptable aggression. Obedience training can be an excellent approach to socializing your pet and teaching positive behaviors.

Professional Trainers

Professional dog trainers can provide individual training sessions for your pet. An experienced trainer can be especially helpful if your dog is difficult to control or has taken a dominant role.

Veterinarians

If your dog has abruptly become aggressive, a veterinary check can determine whether a medical condition is responsible.

Collars

Remote collars can be a humane method for discouraging aggressive behavior. Citronella collars are also a cruelty-free tool for discouraging barking.

Educational Materials

Learning how to discipline your dog properly and with kindness goes a long way toward eliminating most unwanted behavior. A wealth of training books and video materials is available for pet owners.
